Turning Point’s Support for a Vance 2028 Bid Is ‘In the Works,’ Says Erika Kirk

Erika Kirk, the widow of late conservative activist Charlie Kirk, has indicated that the influential organization Turning Point USA is preparing to support Vice President JD Vance in a potential 2028 presidential run. Kirk made the remarks during an appearance on Megyn Kelly’s live show in Glendale, Arizona, revealing that her husband had been deliberate in his plans to back Vance. “That was the thing that my husband was very direct about,” Kirk stated. “It was, interestingly enough, one of the last few conversations we had was how intentional he was about supporting JD for ’28.”

Erika Kirk speaks during a "This Is the Turning Point" campus tour event at the University of Mississippi, in Oxford, Miss., Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2025.

This perspective comes as Vice President Vance has assumed a more prominent role in advancing Turning Point’s mission following Charlie Kirk’s tragic death in September. The vice president has actively engaged with the organization, including a notable appearance at the University of Mississippi in October to continue the campus tour Kirk had initiated.

The alignment between Vance and the group has been clear for some time, with the vice president himself having acknowledged Charlie Kirk’s advocacy for his selection as former President Donald Trump’s running mate. While Vance has publicly stated his current focus remains on his duties as vice president and the upcoming 2026 midterm elections, the groundwork for a future presidential campaign appears to be actively developing behind the scenes with key conservative allies.
