Dancing With the Stars pro Mark Ballas recently shared the profound personal challenge he and his wife, singer BC Jean, faced during his winning season on the show. While competing with partner Charli D’Amelio in season 31, the couple experienced the heartbreaking loss of a pregnancy. Ballas revealed that on the day of the semifinals, he had to leave his wife at a medical appointment to handle the aftermath of their miscarriage to go and perform on live television.
He described the immense emotional and physical toll of that period, which was compounded by existing body injuries. The cumulative strain led him to feel completely drained and initially prompted his decision to retire from dancing. However, the subsequent birth of their son, Banksy, in 2023 inspired a change of heart.
